Reviews
I would give this place a solid 3.5, but I'll bump it up since it's pretty standard sf eating.
We ordered 4 dishes, rice cake stir fry, xlb, chicken corn soup, and not pictured is the sauced spare ribs. The worst dish was definitely the spare ribs, it didn't seem like they cooked the ribs with the sauce but just tossed it with the ribs after. There was a general lack of flavor in them. Everything else was just slightly under salted (for my taste). The xlbs were decent and they seemed to be hand wrapped which you don't see too often anymore. I did wish they gave you ginger, but I also didn't ask for it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The rice cake stir fry was not that good, however I enjoyed it nonetheless so can't complain too much. The seating is tight but typical, I was surprised it was so busy starting at 530~, but it's probably a neighborhood favorite.
Overall we had a good meal and price wise it was okay. Not sure I'd come back as there are many other similar joints to try.
The ribs and pan fried buns was decent.
BUT the soup dumplings. It used to be good, but today was VERY disappointing. The soup dumpling quality went down drastically, not sure if it’s because I went at a bad time (5:30pm)
But the dough was much thicker than usual and it’s hard to describe the filling. I give it the benefit of doubt that I got a bad batch since there was no one when we came.
Amazing dumplings and the dry fried wings are outstanding! Service is always friendly and helpful. Worth the drive into the city for!
I ordered steamed pork dumpling and pan fried buns. The meat in pan fried buns is so salty and they put so much the soy sauce in it, it is just overwhelming, I never had pan fried buns that have so much soy sauce, besides I expect there is some soup inside from the style of pan fried buns they made, not at all. The skin of steamed pork dumplings is so thick and there is no soup inside neither. I made group orders of frozen dumplings from their other location, and they are good, I am quite disappointed at these most popular items at this location with such high review, price is on the higher side and the quality can't justify it.
Small place that’ll fill you up with amazing flavors. They only have two options for soup (Shanghai) style dumplings, but good nonetheless. Noodles are also awesome, I prefer mine a little crispier. Mongolian beef is tender and has a nice touch of sweetness. I’d ask for it spicier next time. Got the cucumbers, which were average. Veggies dumplings are good, but feel like they’re missing a little something even with the vinegar and soy sauce. Their table side chili oil could also be a bit spicier. Would come back again!
Solid 4.5 stars!
Dumpling Kitchen offers a taste of Shanghai, with popular dishes such as the Juicy Pork Dumpling and Shanghai-style Chow Mein. The prices are reasonable, and the service is fast and efficient.
Despite a waitlist, the small and simple restaurant manages to seat guests promptly. To our surprise, the restroom is modern and well-maintained.
Furthermore, finding neighborhood parking in the Outer Sunset area proves much easier than navigating the congested city streets.
Do not eat here if you value your health, I kid you not they gave me a half cooked Sheng Jen Biao (pan fried soup dumpling), after a bite noticed it had dough uncooked and raw pork in it.
They took it away too quick for me to take a picture. Didn’t even apologize.
We had a lunch here on Saturday. It was hard to find parking spots in residence area. Arrived around 1:15pm and waited for 15 minutes to get a seat. Over all the food, service and cleanliness are average. Portion sizes are small. ****** Charge more if you pay for the bill by credit card. ****** (read your bills before paying)
